Parineeti followed a strict diet plan for about six months. She restricted herself from eating sugary and high carb foods, as well as foods rich in fat. She stopped eating after 8 pm at night. Moreover, she ate healthy food and that too in limited portions. She slowly changed her lifestyle. During the first two weeks of her diet plan, she ate light meals and then slowly moved on to a stricter diet plan. But she still ate a piece of cake or any other food that she craved for, but in very small portions. The extra calories that she gained as a result were burnt by working out the next day. Along with a strict diet, she also followed an exercise routine. This accelerated her weight loss.

Parineeti has recently caused quite a commotion on social media with her amazing weight loss. Apparently, she went on a sabbatical of sorts on the advice of her mentor, Aditya Chopra, post Kill Dil, which came out in 2014.
She took to social media to post photos of her latest photoshoot for the September issue of The Juice magazine. And, her new body and look is simply stunning. “For the last few months, I have been working on myself. I have lost a lot of weight, and I am much fitter now. I was so busy last year that I didnt get the time to work on myself. It has made me more flexible, stronger, and has also helped build my stamina. I dont like going through the regular gym routine to lose weight. It really bores me. I guess I couldnt multi-task. I was working day in and day out, and not taking care of my health. I not only looked unhealthy, but also felt it. I wanted to feel energetic, but I was just constantly tired. So, I decided to change that. We always aim to get thin. But thats not enough. We should feel fit from the inside. I was unfit and overweight. Now as I am losing weight and getting fitter, I should soon be where I want to be.”

Being from a Punjabi family, Parineeti is a hardcore foodie and watch her diet was never easy for her. It seemed impossible to give up on all those extra calories that she loved and it took a lot of strength but she was able to give it all up. To top it off, Parineeti has a poor metabolism which means that putting on weight is very easy for her. In order to make things go in the right direction, she started by indulging all her cravings but focusing on portion control. She balances out her diet by eating healthy and burning extra calories if she indulges herself. She includes a lot of protein-rich foods in her diet like egg whites and milk and has cut all artificial sweeteners from her diet. She goes with sugar-free milk and sugar-free juice. She has replaced white bread with brown and white rice with brown rice. She ensures that she eats low-fat food and keeps her oil intake to the minimum. She also eats her dinner early, around 7-8 pm, in order to give her digestive system a little break.
