Creating a daily calorie deficit of 500 calories by consuming less and/or exercising more is enough to lose one pound in weight per week, according to all the best diet books.

But research published in The New England Journal of Medicine has found that extra helpings of healthier foods like whole grains, nuts, fruit, vegetables and yoghurt appear to be more important than totting up your overall calorie intake.

It seems that calorie intake doesnt matter as much as whether the food you are eating is actually healthy and good for you confusingly, thats even if some of the healthy foods, like nuts, are high in calories.

Dried Fruit Should Be Enjoyed In Moderation

Some types of dried fruit are well-known for their health benefits.

For example, prunes have a laxative effect that can help treat constipation, while dates have potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties .

Dried fruits are also highly nutritious. They contain most of the same vitamins, minerals and fiber found in whole fruit, but in a much more concentrated package because the water has been removed.

This means that you will consume a higher amount of vitamins, minerals and fiber eating dried fruit, compared to the same weight of fresh fruit.

Unfortunately, it also means you will consume a higher number of calories, carbs and sugar.

For example, a half cup of raw apricot contains 37 calories, while a half cup of dried apricot contains 157 calories. The dried apricots contain over four times as many calories by volume, compared to raw apricots .

Additionally, some types of dried fruit are candied, meaning the manufacturers add sugar to increase sweetness. Candied fruit is even higher in calories and sugar, and it should be avoided in a healthy diet.

If youre eating dried fruit, make sure to look for a brand without added sugar, and monitor your portion size closely to make sure you dont overeat.

  • Day 6 vegetables, cabbage, cheese. You can eat cabbage and cheese as much as you want. Vegetables any.
  • Day 7 whole grain or brown rice, juices, vegetables. This is the end of the diet. You can check the results . The menu includes rice, fruit juices, vegetables. Vegetable salad is recommended, but no dressing. You can add garlic, lemon juice, herbs , olive oil to it.
