However, eliminating both may lead to better choices when dining out and less opportunity to eat many popular processed snacks and junk, such as candy bars, greasy chips, bread, fried foods, cake and many desserts.
However, there are many gluten free dairy free snacks and sweets on the market now due to high demand, which are just as bad as their gluten and dairy containing counterparts . So, if youre making the bulk of your meals and snacks consist of these gluten free dairy free processed options, which may be higher in saturated fats, trans fats, sugar, calories and sodium, youre doing yourself a disservice and might even gain weight.
Dairy and gluten can be nutritious when prepared in a healthy way, and the same applies with gluten free dairy free foods. If youre regularly drinking coconut milk in your coffee and using coconut oil as your main oil source when cooking, you might have excess saturated fat intake. Likewise, eating too much animal protein and not enough plants will also increase saturated fat intake and pose a risk for your heart health. Butter isnt the only source of saturated fat: beef, coconut oil and milk and any unhealthy, packaged desserts that meet the gluten free dairy free requirements, but are still bad for you, do as well and in high doses.

None of us are perfect at following any sort of diet or lifestyle plan. I know for sure that Im not. I eat things that I dont mean to or that I just want to be a little rebellious about all the time. As much as I love teaching and sharing this diet and lifestyle stuff with you, Im a big student in it myself. I dont know everything. And I sure do eat donuts once in a while and then regret it. Or eat cheese on something and maybe dont feel bad, but still wish I hadnt eaten it.
The point here is that when you try to stick with any kind of healthy eating plan or specific diet, like a gluten and dairy-free one, its BEYOND EASY to beat yourself up for not being perfect. For not eating every single thing right. For thinking you better throw in the towel for the whole day. The whole week. Or the entire next month, because you slipped up and found yourself feeling terrible or in the bathroom.
Please please please dont do that. Please use every slip up as a learning moment, as an opportunity to say to yourself Oh man, I just did that and maybe it was or wasnt worth it, but I know I feel my best when I eat this way. And then just get back to eating the way that you know makes you feel your best!
Its not complicated. Just eat the foods that make you feel good. Avoid the ones that dont. And when you make a mistake, just get back to feeling good again. The healthiest people arent healthy all the time, so give yourself some grace.

I finally realized that I was eating more cookies, cakes and donuts than I ever ate before, mainly because I was excited that I could eat them again.
