Whats Up With The Update
This app isnt super user friendly but Ive been able to make it work. I agree with some other reviews that the grocery list needs some work as well as its really a pain to try and add or swap out some foods. My biggest issue and the reason for this review is that with the most recent update I cant use the decimal point when trying to put in my weight or measurements so I can only round which isnt a great way to track. When I take my progress photos it no longer includes the most recent photo just the first one and quite frankly Id like to be able to see my progress week to week . In the progress section there is not an option to see any progress beyond the last week…again Id like to see what my progress is over a longer period of time. Lastly, the food plans need some attention. No issue with the meals but when I try to find something else to eat the options are extremely limited. If Im trying to swap a snack its likely because I ran out of whatever my snack was so only being given a variation of the snack Im trying to change is a pain. I also cant add a new meal on its own, only within whatever meal you skipped which doesnt make any sense. I hope the next app update comes soon and with some major fixes or Ill likely cancel my plan and try another method. This one hasnt really been worth the hassle yet. Great concept but poorly executed app.
Adapting The Slow Carb Diet
So I tried to follow the slow carb diet pretty strictly for a month when I came back from my cruise. It wasnt awesome. If willpower is a finite resource, Im almost positive I was born with less than average. So restrictive diets of any nature don’t work well for me . Plus, I felt conflicted about omitting fruit from my diet, and cheat days tended to coincide with drinking days, and that was an absolute field day for my sensitive stomach.
So Im not a gung-ho advocate of this diet as a religious practice. However, Im a big fan of it as a guideline for healthy eating. For instance, when I cook for myself now, I often try to think about how I can make my meals more slow carb. I buy into the science behind it we know that veggies are an important source of fiber, nutrients and minerals. We know that protein is helpful for increasing fullness, satiety, growing muscle comp and staying energized.
But what is little talked about in popular health circles is the importance of beans! Ive become a bean fanatic since adopting a more slow carb approach to my diet, because they are such nutrient and satiety powerhouses. Plus, beans are uber sustainable.
I now take care to add more beans, along with legumes like lentils and chickpeas, to my daily diet. I even bought a cookbook called Cool Beans to learn different ways to prepare this new and fun food group.

Full Day Of Eating At 1500 Calories
With those prepped foods, the calories and macros for my meals were 1463 calories, 151 grams protein, 151 grams carbs, 33 grams fat. I actually ate the same meals all week, so it was not only easy and consistent, but I was able to use the prepped food the whole week.
Ive got two different protein powders for the 1500 calorie day because I have TEN containers in my cupboard. I just finished a post taste testing all the powders to find my favorite. So, now Im left with lots of protein!
Meal Prep And Printable For 1500 Calorie Day
Im officially 8 weeks out from my next fitness competition, so Ive decided to be less flexible, and more on point with my calories and macros.
Since my bikini competition last summer, Ive been able to keep my weight within 3-5 lbs while being pretty flexible with my diet. I stick mostly to my calories and macros, but I definitely have been allowing myself untracked food more often than not.
I also have been eating some highly palatable foods, which makes it more difficult to stick with my program. I regret nothing! But the next 8 weeks, things need to change so I can follow the plan more easily.
My current calories and macros are 1500 calories, 150 grams protein, 150 grams carbs, and 40 grams fat.
So, for the next 8 weeks, Im committing to be exact. Measuring everything, and putting my macros into a meal plan. I want to be super consistent. I plan to eat close to the same foods every day, and change the meals up only after a week.
