Healthy Weight Loss Fruit
As you can see, you can enrich your diet with fruits in any possible way, just by adding them as a topping or ingredient to your meals or consuming them separately as a snack. It is recommended that an average adult person should consume 2 servings of fruits a day . A standard serve is about 150 g , or :
- 1 medium apple, banana, orange, or pear
- 2 small apricots, kiwi fruits, or plums
- 1 cup diced or canned fruit
Or only occasionally:
- 125 ml fruit juice
- 30 g dried fruit

Types Of Fruit To Include
There are no “good” or “bad” fruits . However, if you’re looking to get the most nutritional value, look for fruits that are high in fiber.
For example, you can eat 1 1/4 cup of strawberries for 60 calories, 15 grams carbs, 3.5 grams fiber, and 7.5 grams sugar. That’s similar to 1/2 medium banana, which is 60 calories, 15 grams carbs, 2 grams fiber, and 8 grams sugar.
It’s also important to choose a wide variety of fruit. One study found that a greater variety in fruit and vegetables was associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes.
Kale Broccoli Cauliflower And Brussels Sprouts
Then: You might be wondering how these are all related. Each food is a different cultivar of the same species, Brassica oleracea, originally a wild mustard plant that is now often referred to as wild cabbage. Kale, broccoli, and cauliflower have been around for at least 2,000 years, while Brussels sprouts made an appearance in the 1600s.

Kristen Mclaughlin: Lost 133 Lbs
When McLaughlin “became sedentary” in college, the weight piled on, and it only got worse when she started dating a “larger guy.”They would order in for almost every meal pizzas, burrito bowls, cheeseburgers and fries and rarely cook, which put McLaughlin at 270 lbs. She joined Jenny Craig in 2016 to lose weight, and managed to drop 60 lbs., but felt guilty that her MBA candidate-boyfriend had to fend for himself, and the weight went right back on.
Then in late 2017, five years into their relationship, McLaughlin’s boyfriend became “distant,” and said he had feelings for someone else.
“At that point I’m like, ‘This is cheating, this is dumb, I can’t do this anymore,’ and I said I was leaving,” she says.
In December alone, McLaughlin broke up with him, moved out of their apartment and happened to start a new job. It was overwhelming, but the clean slate she needed to lose weight for good. “I literally got rid of every excuse that I’ve ever had,” she says.
McLaughlin joined Jenny Craig again in Feb. 2017, and over the next two years lost 133 lbs. nearly half her size with the pre-made meals and a newfound love for group fitness classes and weight training. She now cooks for herself and maintains her weight loss.
“I think I’m more myself now, funnily enough, than I ever was the previous 30 years,” she says. “I say yes to things now, I’m more outgoing, I’m more likely to be social.”
Does It Allow For Dietary Restrictions Or Preferences
Vegetarians and vegans: This plan works for vegetarian diets. For vegans, look for protein powders that dont contain whey, egg, or other animal products.
Low-salt diet: Yes. This diet is naturally low-salt.
Low-fat diet: Yes. The amount and type of fat can be adjusted to meet your needs. You have some leeway with your shake choices and whether to include avocado.

What Not To Eat
A fruitarian does not consume any animal protein. Eggs, poultry, pork, and beef arent options for fruitarians.
Just like animal protein, dairy products aren’t permitted for the fruitarian diet. Milk, yogurt, cheese, or any other animal dairy products are not allowed. Some fruitarians are drink almond, cashew, or coconut milk in place of cow’s or goat’s milk.
Grains and grain products are not allowed on the fruitarian diet, and this includes sprouted grain products.
You might think that potatoes would be allowed on the fruitarian diet, but that isnt the case. Fruitarians dont eat any kind of tuber or potato.
Beans and Legumes
A true fruitarian diet does not include any beans or legumes, including chickpeas, lentils, peas, soybeans, and peanuts.
Processed foods are not permitted on the fruitarian diet. This means shopping only the perimeter of your grocery store or at your local farmers’ market.
Just like other dietssuch as paleo, Mediterranean, and flexitarianthere is room for modification on the fruitarian diet. If you decide to follow a mostly fruit-based diet, you can fill in the nutrition gaps with other healthy food groups.

Ann Wulff: Lost 207 Lbs
Wulff felt like pregnancy was “permission to just eat whatever I wanted,” the 39-year-old teacher tells PEOPLE. Through three pregnancies, she gained more than 100 lbs. and kept going from there, eventually hitting 360 lbs.
“I convinced myself that it didn’t matter if I ate unhealthily because I was already overweight,” she says. “I was busy with a full-time job and three little girls, so did it really matter if I eat the ice cream?”

What Are Carnivore Diet Macros
Since the point of a carnivore diet is to trust your body and eat until you are satiated, it is recommended that you don’t count calories. I chose to count calories and macros just to gather data on this experiment.
On average I was eating anywhere from 1800-2500 calories per day with 75% coming from fat, 20% from protein and 5% from carbohydrates. This wasn’t a perfect ratio every single day, but it averaged out that way in the end.

Randi Vasquez: Lost 80 Lbs
Randi Vasquez was a “chubby” kid growing up, but it never bothered her “I was always feeling myself,” she says. That is, until she hit a “post-grad slump” when she couldn’t find a job she loved and started drowning her sorrows in boozy brunches and fast food.
“I was getting heavier and heavier,” Vasquez, who eventually hit 240 lbs., says. “I started to notice that my confidence was going down, and I wasn’t motivated to do anything. It started to click that if I didn’t change my life that it would just get worse and worse.”
Vasquez knew that a major diet and lifestyle overhaul wouldn’t stick, so she started small, and in fall 2014 found a gym class at her local YMCA that she loved. Within a few months she dropped 18 to 20 lbs., which inspired her to keep going. From there, Vasquez started cooking healthier meals and started doing Kayla Itsines’ popular BBG workout plan.
“Year after year, month after month, I made small little goals and just kept going,” she says. “I hit 80 lbs. down in fall 2017. That was such a big moment for me.”
Since then, Vasquez nailed another big goal running a half marathon and focuses on maintaining her weight.
“I don’t feel like my weight can hold me back anymore,” she says. “I was happy before but there was so much I was held back from that I didn’t even realize.”
Keep An Eye On Portions
When choosing fruit, try to stick with one fruit serving per meal or snack.
Keep in mind that one serving of fruit equals about 15 grams of carbohydrates. How much of each fruit you can eat within that one-serving limit will depend on the type of fruit. Here’s a list of what is considered one serving for common whole fruits:
- 1 small piece apple, orange, peach, pear, or plum
- 1/2 medium banana
- 3/4 cup blueberries
- 1 cup raspberries or blackberries
You’ll have a better chance at controlling your blood sugar if you avoid dried fruit and juice. Also, it helps to pair your fruit with a protein or fat. For example, top cottage cheese with pineapple, add berries to a protein smoothie, or dip apple slices into nut butter or tahini.

Alan Christiansen: Lost 317 Lbs
At 538.8 lbs., Alan Christiansen knew his relationship with food was unhealthy. His typical lunchtime meal involved stopping at three fast-food restaurants to satisfy his cravings, totaling over 6,000 calories, and he struggled with everyday tasks.
“I couldn’t stand up in a shower for ten minutes,” he tells PEOPLE. “Even doing dishes and cooking required a chair.”

The Fruitarian Diet Whats It All About
Essentially, the fruit diet requires you to eat fruit, plus nuts and seeds, for all three of your meals in a day. Fruit, nuts and seeds should also be your only snacks. The general rule of thumb with the diet is that you eat at least 75% raw fruit , and 25% nuts and seeds.
Otherwise known as a raw vegan diet, the fruit diet is a subset of veganism.
Although the diet can be flexible , it generally features 7 main food groups. These include acid fruits subacid fruits sweet fruits nuts seeds oily fruits and dried fruits . So while lots of food are off limits, you are allowed savoury foods in order to vary your diet.
Many fruitarians also follow a wider 75/25 rule too, which says that as long as youre eating fruit 75% of the time, it means youre technically still following the diet, and can eat slightly more substantial, non fruit-based products 25% of the time.
The diet claims to be healthy as it leaves dieters with only raw, unprocessed foods.

The Couple’s Typical Daily Diet

‘Whilst researching a green smoothie recipe for the first time – I found a girl online that only ate fruit, and then I found a whole group of people online eating this way and calling themselves fruitarians.
