The biggest shock for me was when I tried eating a greasy pizza how absolutely bad it made me feel afterwards. My stomach hurt, gurgled, I was bloated instantly and made my skin feel disgusting. Something I have never noticed before when I was eating it all the time. My skin is clearer and my hair and nails are growing faster. Just shows you what a healthier lifestyle can do for our bodies more than just weight lost. I still have treats when its a special occasion or something to celebrate as I will never give up cupcakes, lets be honest. I just make better food choices during the week and when we are out now and feel so much better for it.

I Almost Went 30 Days Without Eating Junk Food

In 2019, Ive decided to have some fun learning new skills and building new habits.

The first Challenge I embarked on was to get rid of junk food from my diet. And after 30 days, I can say that was a fantastic idea.

Although I was trying to go 30 days without junk food, I only ended up succeeding on 25/30 days, but Im incredibly happy with the progress. Despite failing, I learned so much and started to build a new a habit in my life. That, my friends, is a success in my book.

I want to share what I learned over these 30 days.

  • Its very difficult to over when youre not eating junk food. Throughout the 25 successful days of no junk food, I not once felt sick to my stomach from eating too much food, whereas I used to feel sick often after eating snacks. It might be a personal thing, but it seems like a cant overeat on a normal meal. And never experiencing the discomfort of overeating is a VERY motivating benefit.

  • I feel incredible when avoiding junk food, especially sugar. Before starting this challenge, I went 3 days without junk food and experienced some great benefits. So extending that to almost 30 made me feel so awake and lively more often during the day compared to before. I also noticed Id wake up feeling more refreshed, relaxed, and positive.

    Do You Need To Work Out While Dieting

    I didnt do any hard core working out either. I am a huge fan of kettlebells but I also hate working out so for me I didnt want to do something I couldnt keep up at home and in the future. So I did my kettlebell workouts just 15-20 minutes, three times a week. Thats nothing and I did them standing next to the pool at my parents house while the kids swam at my feet and music playing. That time frame is nothing and I just went to YouTube, typed in kettlebell workouts and did a different video every day to work various parts of my body, never going back to the same video which keeps it from getting boring. Bonus! It is important to exercise for your physical and mental wellbeing, but that doesnt have to mean big expensive gym memberships.

    Some final tips for success on your no junk food challenge:

  • If you need to eat out, choose dishes based around a lean protein source and lots of veggies or salad. Avoid those with sauces and that have been fried.
  • Replace sodas and processed fruit drinks with sparkling water flavored with a squeeze of fresh fruit juice. Nice ones to try are lemon, lime, tangerine, pomegranate, and grapefruit. Adding in fresh mint and cucumber slices make a refreshing change.
  • Replace sugar and dairy laden hot drinks with herbal teas, green tea, black coffee, and golden milk. Golden milk is a fragrant chai-style drink made from coconut milk, turmeric, ginger, and other spices. Sweeten hot drinks with a dash of raw honey or pure maple syrup. Avoid agave and golden syrups.
  • Don’t give up! If you make a mistake or fall off the wagon, start again. You’ll still reap so many benefits from doing the best you can, even if there are times when you ate the wrong things. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Keep starting again. Your health is worth it.

    The next idea for a 30 day health challenge idea is the famous 30 day no sugar challenge. Most likely, you have heard about this challenge before. The overconsumption of sugar causes many health issues amongst people, so this challenge attempts to solve the problem of high sugar intake. An average American consumes more than 17 teaspoons of added sugar a day, which is much more than the recommended sugar intake .

    The main concept of a no sugar challenge is quite simple: dont consume added sugar for 30 days. This year, I shared my experience with this challenge, so if you are interested in trying the no sugar challenge, check out how I managed to accomplish the challenge. I will admit that the first few times I attempted this challenge, I technically failed. But I learned a lot each time about how to do it better the next time

    Day No Junk Food Results

    It wasnt until I got home and found my before photo that I took and my after photo and put them side by side to see the results. You can see in my before photo I had the bloated belly spare tire and thighs/butt areas needs work and this is where I gained most of my baby weight with both of my children. I am now just working on the toning and muscle in my arms and legs but never working out intensely just 15-20 minutes during the week, two times a week to maintain what I have achieved. It makes you feel so much better when you are eating healthy and exercising. You feel more confident and energetic and proud of your self control. Or at least this is how I feel now. I lost over 16 lbs this summer and it feels great to be back in my old pre-baby clothes. I have been sharing them all on my with everyone over the last few weeks that I have been home.

    You may be wondering, ‘what should I eat?’ The golden rule of the no junk food challenge is to prep and cook your food yourself, from scratch, using natural ingredients. Here’s a list of foods you should eat:

    • Vegetables â all veggies, root, cruciferous, potatoes, squashes, alliums
    • Fruits â sweet and non-sweet such as olives, avocadoes, peppers
    • Leafy greens â spinach, kale, chard, collard greens, turnip greens
    • Beans and pulses â lentils, chickpeas, black, kidney, butterbeans, haricot, split peas
    • Nuts and seeds â walnuts, hemp, flax, chia, almonds, Brazils, pistachios, pumpkin and sunflower seeds
    • Whole grains â brown rice, quinoa, buckwheat, millet, amaranth, brown rice pasta
    • Salads â lettuces, tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, radish, chicory, endive, herbs
    • Minimally processed dairy alternatives – almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk, coconut yoghurt. Avoid soya unless itâs organic
    • Cold-pressed oils â extra virgin olive oil and virgin coconut oil
    • Fresh fish – only if you can’t give up animal food completely for the 21 days

    What Happened When I Stopped Eating Junk Food for 30 Days | Weight Loss Transformation

    I was extremely underweight by the time I graduated from College. A lot of people who see my picture think it was awesome. It wasnt, I was Anorexic and it took me a few years to get over that and re-build my appetite.

    My body took years to recover and start filling out. I was so used to not gaining that I didnt notice the weight creeping up on me.

    I dont really look at the mirror that much. Seriously. I dont know, Im just not a mirror person, I guess. When I sang professionally, I would look at the mirror only when I needed to fix my hair or touch up on makeup for the gigs otherwise, I dont remember to check my reflection often.

    Its also probably because Im not a makeup person either.
