Welcome to episode 8 of my Keto #MealPrepMonday series. Today Im giving you an 1800 calorie Keto meal plan. Everyone has a different calorie requirements. Most of my earlier plans are around the 1200-1500 range which is what is the average for most people. But its not the same for all people. So for those who require a slightly higher amount of calories, this meal plan should do the trick. Of course you can always customize this plan to your own calorie requirements by increasing or decreasing the serving sizes.

Before you take on this plan I would strongly recommend that you watch my Keto 101 series on Youtube and understand Keto. Learn how to calculate your macros, understand calorie logging and just get well acquainted with Keto.

Is 1800 Calories On A Low Carb Diet Different Than 1800 On A Standard Diet

Anecdotal evidence: I did a weekly “beat prediabetes” weight management class through my health insurance company and lived like death for a few weeks while tracking all of my low-fat “healthy grains” diet crap. I was dying on 1,600 calories and hungry ALL OF THE TIME which led to 1. failing the diet and worse yet, 2. FEELING like a failure. I now eat 1,300-1,400 calories daily and that includes butter and chicken skin. I’m happy, I’m successful, and those rice cakes with fat-free cream cheese are in my rearview mirror.

Not everyone will feel that difference, but for my body keto makes maintaining a calorie deficit possible and downright enjoyable.

Man, your story sounds a lot like mine. I didn’t do a class or anything, but I basically went CICO on a highly carb-based, low-fat diet. So it would be oatmeal with low-fat yoghurt for breakfast, a massive bowl of lentil soup for lunch and lean meat and veggies for dinner. STARVING ALL THE TIME. I mean, I lost 60lb but I was practically chewing my arm off come dinner time. Felt cold a lot of the time too.

..keto makes maintaining a calorie deficit possible and downright enjoyable.

This is what I’ve found too. Currently on day 21 of keto, have lost 27lb and am never going to bed hungry.

  • A mix of whole milk and semi-skimmed has been used, but please use whichever you prefer. Any dairy alternative should be unsweetened and fortified with calcium.
  • These meal plans meet your recommended amount of fibre across the week. It’s important to note that children under 16 years of age need less fibre than adults.
  • These meal plans outline daily food intake, but its still important to remember to drink regular fluids. This includes plain water, plain milk, and tea or coffee without added sugar.

    The 1800 Calorie Bodybuilding Meal Plan

    The meal plan Ive put together has two options for each meal plus a snack option.

    Both option 1 and 2 for each meal have the same nutrition so you are able to pick and choose based on what you like to eat and the amount of variety you are looking for. Lunch and dinner meals also all have the same nutrition giving you even more options to pick and choose from.

    If Your Goal Is To Lose Weight A Meal Plan Can Be A Useful Way To Help

    Many people choose to take on a calorie-controlled diet to help them lose weight and manage their food intake. But its important to make sure its the right option for you first.

    Our 1,800 calorie meal plan is both calorie and carb counted for your convenience, and contains at least five portions of fruit and veg per day.

    Across the week weve calculated an average of around 1800kcal per day to help you reach your goals. This meal plan is aimed at men whod like to achieve gradual weight loss.

    This is because the guideline daily amount for women is 2,000 calories a day compared to 2,500 for men. This means 1,800 calories for women is unlikely to achieve your desired weight loss goal.

    Weve included the value for fibre to help you make sure you are meeting your nutritional requirements. We know lots of people in the UK arent eating enough fibre, so its important to try and include rich sources in your diet every day.

    The recipes within this plan serve anywhere from 1-6 people. You can either reduce the quantities to serve as many people as needed or look at the chefs tips to see if the recipe can be made in bulk and frozen for a later date. This will also help reduce waste.

    What Is An 1800 Calorie High Protein Low Carb Diet

    As the name suggests, your daily calorie intake must stay around 1800 calories, and you further need to bring a balanced combination of all the high protein, low carb food options.

    Lets say you are not that physically active and want to get started with this high protein, low carb diet.

    In that case, your daily protein requirements can be calculated by taking 0.6 grams/per pound of your body weight.

    So, if you weigh around 160 pounds, your daily protein requirements will be 160 x 0.6 = 96 grams.

    The same figure will change in case you are indulged in a heavy exercising routine, i.e., 160 x 1.5 = 240 grams.

    You can easily ascertain your daily protein intake by referring to the calculations mentioned above.

    As far as carbs consumption is concerned, you must keep it between 70-100 grams per day.

    When we are on an 1800 calorie bodybuilding diet, its important to avoid highly processed food since it will leave you feeling hungry and less satisfied compared to whole foods.

    When we are eating on a lower calorie diet, we need to be cognizant of what we are using those calories for. Foods that are highly processed, like fast-food, can easily add up to 800 1200 calories for one meal. On an 1800 calories diet, that would constitute 50% or more of our daily calories for just one meal.

    Eating the majority of our calories from a processed source like this is likely to leave us feeling hungry and dissatisfied which is when we are most likely to go over our calories.

That is, if youre an adult woman, an 1800 calorie diet fits perfectly in the recommended range. Keep in mind that the recommended intake may differ depending on your age, gender, and level of physical activity. For instance, if youre a male athlete, you may need much more calories, and 1800 calories per day may not be enough for you.
